When in doubt, Travel!

Travel means different things to different people…

To one it symbolises the coming of age while to another it may be as simple as taking a well deserved vacation. I know of a few to whom traveling is a luxury that they indulge in once in a while, while I also know of a few to whom it is a necessity. I am guilty of falling into the group of people described in the latter part of my previous sentence.

Whatever the reason, it touches each and everyone of us who indulge in it, one way or another…

Traveling to me is special in many ways but most importantly it is so because of the fact that I cannot perhaps be tied down to one place. I blame it on my upbringing based on my military background that essentially meant constantly being on the move, continuously making new friends and being exposed to a motley of cultures right from my toddlerhood.

Now that I am a “grown” adult, married to a man who I know is the one and have a decade long experience in the corporate world, I know its time for me to finally “settle down”…

Easier said than done…

Its been almost 15 years that I have been living in the city that I now call home but every once in a while I feel a tug, a poke and often a jab inside of me somewhere that tells me to try something new, meet someone new, go somewhere new…

I satiate this by traveling to someplace new…

I am a selfish traveler to say the least and I don’t mean by the way that seems to be obvious… I am a considerate and some would say a delightful (:P) traveling companion but my selfishness is apparent when I say that I travel for myself, not for the company, not for getting together and certainly not for checking places off of my infinite wanderlist…

I travel for experiencing a place rather than for visiting or seeing sites, I travel to feel the nuances of every city, to feel the pulse that throbs in the underbelly of every region, to comprehend what makes cultures tick and flourish…

What do you travel for?
